Intro To Improv Comedy:
In this class, students will be introduced to the concept of “Yes, And,” the foundational building block for any collaborative creativity. Students will learn to employ “Yes, And” both with their partners and with themselves in order to hone listening skills, build confidence, foster teamwork, open their imaginations, develop their comedic voice, and most importantly, create hilarious scenes completely on the spot.
Week 1: Loosening up and introducing "Yes, And" and "Who, What, Where"
Week 2: More drilling and variations of "Yes, And," using it to make faster, more confident choices about "Who, What, Where."
Week 3: Bringing physicality into the work: Miming, characters, energy
Week 4: Listening. Hyper focused attention, abandoning the Ego for the greater good of the scene
Week 5: Truthfulness and Point of View: using your experiences and specifics to make your scene both unique and hilarious
Week 6: Scenework. Putting everything together into fully improvised two person scenes from a single suggestion.
This online six week intensive will take place on Fridays, April 2nd, 9th, 16th, 30th & May 7th from 4-6PM EST / 1-3PM PST.
Actors all around the world are welcome!
