MEET THE PHOTOGRAPHER:
Maria Wilson is an NYC-based photographer and award-winning filmmaker. She trained at the Experimental Theatre Wing of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. After receiving her BFA in Drama, she performed Off-Broadway and in several indie films before jumping behind the camera as a writer/director and photographer. Since 2014, she has strived to create fresh, modern, effortlessly beautiful headshots that stand apart from the over-processed, ultra-glam photos flooding the market. To her, there is nothing more captivating and confident than embracing a natural, authentic look. She makes sure to treat each shoot as a unique collaboration and works with you to style, pose, and capture a variety of looks during your session. Maria has shot with performers that can be seen in commercials, television, film, and on Broadway, as well as writers, dancers, artists, and corporate innovators. Her portrait and fashion/editorial work has been featured in MR Mag, Buzzfeed, and Interview. As a filmmaker, her 2016 debut fantastical horror short, Venefica, played at over 25 festivals around the world before being picked up by Shudder. Currently, she’s in post-production on her second short film (starring David Rysdahl, Tess Elliot, and Emmy-nominee Zazie Beetz). You can learn more about her filmmaking at www.mariacwilson.com.
