Online Showcases Overview
How do you know if you’re ready for an online talent showcase? Before signing up for one of our online agent/manager showcases you need to make sure you’re ready for it. You want to make the best possible first impression on the agents and managers and put your best foot forward. So where do you begin?
- First, we really recommend taking some online acting classes to prepare for your online showcase. You can even work privately with one of our acting coaches to make sure your scene is well polished before the showcase.
- Update your resume! Make sure your credits are up to date with any recent bookings or any acting courses you’ve taken. Agents love to see those credits, but if you don’t have many credits don’t worry, just make sure you list as much acting training as you can under the “training” section.
- Do you have great headshots? If not, book your headshot session and make sure to have your headshots retouched before the showcase. FYI we offer amazing very affordable headshots at AVS so check them out on our website in the “Headshots” category.
If you feel like you’re not ready to get an agent yet, we recommend getting some more acting training under your belt before you sign up for our virtual showcase. We offer some great online acting classes for beginner actors that can definitely help you prepare for your meeting with an agent.
What will you get after the online showcases?
During our virtual showcase you will be able to perform a scene of your choice, show off your acting skills and get valuable feedback on your performance from the panel.
After the showcase is over, we recommend following up with the agents and managers on the panel to thank them for meeting with you and giving you feedback on your performance. (Please note that AVS is not allowed to give out panel’s contact information, but you can find most of their info online on IMDBpro or UpToDateActor.com). We highly recommend to only message each agent once after the showcase. After that we recommend to only follow up when you have some exciting news to share. For example: booking a job, getting new headshots, cutting a new acting reel, signing with another agent or manager, etc.
